Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Noridian Administrative Services administers the Medicare program in 11 states under contract with the federal government. These contracts are awarded through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Medicare is a federal medical insurance program for eligible disabled U.S. beneficiaries and those 65 and older. NAS administers Medicare Part A in North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, South Dakota, Arizona, Wyoming, Alaska, Washington, Utah, Oregon and Idaho. Part A covers hospital expenses and other specified in-patient costs.

NAS also administers Medicare Part B for 9 states: Alaska, Arizona, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Part B covers physician expenses and other specified provider costs.

Each year, NAS distributes nearly $17 billion to more than 88,000 health care providers as payment for services rendered to the 4 million beneficiaries in our service area.

Visit the NAS Medicare web site at www.noridianmedicare.com for details about Medicare and how NAS serves health care providers and customers who participate in the program.
